THE STORY - LOWELL MTL

THE STORY

---
Rachel Fortin and Mathieu Mudie designed this project together. After rolling their bumps for several years as craftsmen and then as creators of the RACHEL F brand, the goal with LOWELL was to create unisex bags that would first be made for their lifestyle: simple, urban and dreamy.
---

The name LOWELL comes from the town in Massachusetts that was known as the center for manufacturing textiles. A town, where at the end of the 19th century, many French Canadians immigrated in large waves. A town that helped pave the road for important relationships between Quebec and the United States. A town considered home to the infamous Jack Kerouac who was born and raised there. A town that was inspired by the open road and travelling. A town that prospered during an era where the objects created were done so locally and where people valued the work and the effort placed behind every piece created.

---

But it is above all our friends, our families and our city, Montreal, that inspires us. LOWELL offers bags inspired by the Montreal lifestyle. A bilingual and multi-ethnic city with heart in Europe and head in North America. Just like Montreal, our bags have a casual but formal look, very North American, but dreaming of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Montreal is the smallest of the major cities. A serious and hard working city, but where summer nights can stretch until dawn. Our bags also make the link between relaxation and work, between casual and formal. Our city is authentic, simple and design. It is rooted in its past while being forward-looking. Just as our bags are practical but modern, perfectly embodying our values of manufacturers AND designers.

---

All LOWELL bags are dreamed, designed, and made in our workshops in MONTREAL, CANADA. This commitment is the basis of the project. We want to offer creations that, while attesting to the rebirth and vitality of Montreal design, would never forget the manufacturing past of this city we love so much.
